Hey. Madhu. Beautiful experience and awesome article that I almost want to go there. I like the waterfall most and every pic you shared can be the background photo of my phone.

I just got back from a weekend in Lombok and being a huge bali regular, must agree it is a breath of fresh air. Just fyi, untouched nature, gorgeous waterfalls and serenity are still to be found in Bali away from the south tourist centers of kuta and seminyak etc. In singaraja in the north, Amed in the east and menjangan/medewi in the west. Will definitely be recommending people to give Lombok a taste tho just for the almost empty white sand beaches and rugged mountain landscape 😉

Hi Bev, thanks a lot for reading 🙂 Yes, I do agree that Bali does have some nice places too, in fact I feel I share a rather complicated relationship with Bali which I will write about in an article but with Lombok, its pure love haha! I love it how every part of Lombok is so beautiful and I am so glad you got a chance to see it too 🙂

[…] napping, reading. If I would have had more time, I would have also taken the ferry or a plane to travel to Lombok, an island just east of Bali and the Gili islands. It seems like a total must-visit and a bit more […]

      Hi there,

Thanks for reading. It really depends on how much time you have and what exactly you want to see. Bali is a great combination of a lot of things: beaches, volcanoes, waterfalls, temples, cultural activities, water sports and nightlife. Lombok is relatively untouched and it has fantastic nature (beaches, villages, waterfalls, volcanoes etc) and warm people but not much of nightlife or cultural activities. Hopefully, you can cover both and then decide for yourself which one you like more 🙂

    Hi from Finland!

I am planning my first solo trip, being able to stay one month.
That`s gonna be my second time in wonderful Indonesia.
Last time I had travel buddies, but now I am SO excited to explore something on my own!

I also fell in love with Lombok as deeply as you did! And now I get some reminding that I should choose Lombok again. 🙂 Thanks for informative post and such great pictures!
I am a nature lover, instead of partying an rushing between most crowded tourist attractions.
Only thing I am not sure about, is it easy to fix a motorbike transport deals for going around there?
I haven`t ever drove a motorbike, so I am not willing to try now. 😀

Lombok is wonderfully green, much more untouched and authentic than its neighbour.
    Nanti baku dapa ulang, Lombok!

      Hi Milja,

Sorry I didn’t notice this earlier. So glad to hear you loved Lombok as much as you did.
Hope you found a way to go around on motorbikes. I don’t ride them either so I can’t really say for sure. However, considering how popular it is in Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia and Vietnam, I am sure there should be great deals!

On another note, Finland is one of my dream destinations and definitely hope to visit it someday:)

    Hi Madhurima,
Thanks so much for this posting! Your experience in Tetebatu is precisely what I am looking for in Lombok. Heading that way in July, and your description is getting me more excited by the day!

    Happy travels!
